Kate Middleton will arrive for her wedding to Prince William in a motor-car, not a carriage. This is seen as responsible behavior.
On the other hand, most people, even outside a time of austerity, do not fill Westminster Abbey for their weddings. The nation, of course, is delighted with the choice of the Abbey. A royal wedding there will cheer it up.
